Locking in my Tail Empty
PostSubject: Locking in my Tail   Locking in my Tail I_icon_minitimeFri Oct 09, 2009 5:43 pm

ok i just took my belt cp to the field and went through 4 batteries and it was awesome its my first nice and slow high up figure 8's with wide turns with a CP heli only done that with me HBFP ......even did some dive bombing with the heli.....AWESOME....soooo

after that i was messing around hovering and doing contiuious 360 going up and up but then i notice when im hoveing in front of me and punch it all the way the tail swings to one side doesn't stay locked in.......

..... is there a way to make it so when i punch the hell out of it the tail locks in place.....

im using the telebee gyro so maybe its not possable with this cheap gryo to make it lock in hard......

increase your gain. Increase your head speed.

Telebee is good for figure 8 and it locks ok. But the moment you fly your heli backwards, it doesn't stay . So better gyro, better tail control. Just compare your belt cp with telebee, against you exi with the 401 with hitech servo. Not to mention if you use thee 9257 servo. You will have a solid tail command

i asked this question to someone else and they said they never seen a gain pot on a gyro kinda hard to believe so my question it what should the gain be on the gyro pot since i only use the Tx to adjust the gain ...Does it matter where the gain in on the pot if only the TX is used to change it?

usually i set evrything all the way. and start with 78 percent gain. if the tail wags, then just lower it. but im done using the telebee, its a good gyro, but not that good for 3d.

so turn the gain up or delay pot which means the same thing to 100% then just keep my settings i got from u the other day on my dx7 setup u helped me with?

side note

today was finally a real day of flying so tried of just hovering but i noticed that the tail seem to me steady when i hover but it looked like it only wags some when i move around...i was flying at a baseball field and i noticed my tail slider was sticking from dirt getting in there so put some oil on it to clear that up so i im not sure it that was the problem from it wagging when i moved foward or my gain setting ....ran out ot battery packs to really know

Turning up the delay is only slowing down your gyro. Thats what delay means.
Just think about the two meanings.....Gain VS Delay......

I am only trying to help so please bear with me....

Do a google search on delay....I have alot. Delay affects how rapidly the gyro responds when input is given. It should be set to 0 . The more you give it the slower you are making your gyro respond.

To test it out yourself, try this.....

With everything on move your rudder left and right continuously and at the same time
move the delay up and back down. You will see what it does. I have never heard of turning
it up unless your servo is slower than your gyro is.

with the telebee, if you plan to adjust the gyro using the Tx then you wanna turn the delay all the way up and plug the yellow wire in, then you can adjust it through your Tx but if its not holding well then just leave the yellow wire unplugged and turn the delay down a little bit at a time until you get a solid tail. once you move to better gyros with digital tail servos the the set up proccess changes a bit. But like Blackrain said, the Telebee is good for basic flight but bombs out when it comes to anything close to 3D, also it won't hold the tail on a hard punch out, but thats just the limits of the gyro.

Great!! your going to love the 520 for sure.....

Nuttcaze, is that just for the telebe gyro? When I use the G401B The delay
is turned to 0. In fact your description of delay turned all the way up I
have never heard of that before on any gyro.

Is that a telebee thing???
