burton8012, The noise you hear is the tail rotor blades biting the air under strain from the torque of the main rotor blades this is normal. It turns one direction easier than the orther because one way
the heli is turning with the main rotor torque and the other direction it is turning againest it.

here is that video with the rudder noise its alot louder in person also lil crash at end only a linked popped off and chip in blade not that good at controlling as u can tell really windy didn't help me im im not that bad but the wind just did me in

in my first vid (with clear canapy)from a couple days ago u don't hear it really when it on the ground see if u can hear the straining noise but that is ok i think but in the air u don't hear it as bad... in my vid i just made i had to have done something to make it louder so recap clear canapy vid alot quiet ...one i just made really load and annoying i screwed something up..my belt cp makes noise but you can't barely tell

burton, Its hard to tell from the video. How tight is the drive belt? Also I think maybe that there is
still to much throw in the tail i think maybe the tail slider may be bottoming out. What radio do you have?

I for one really do believe that cheap parts can be much of everyones problems.. If not directly then indirectly.. Even if its just that say servos, just don't work all the same for example!!

u know what i got these 9g 9 bucks cheap exi dig servos for one the mounting holes suck on them u need spaces just to hold the servo on and second ive notice that after i center all my servo and do mysub trims then i do a test with throttle up and down checking the swash up and down that my channel 2 servo seems to lag behind when i go up and down that gotta be cause the servos sucks right??? that they don't all move together nicely yeah they worked but not like i want

burton Iam using the tower Pro g90's on my scale MD500E and had to change out the pitch servo
because when it just started to get light on the skids the pitch servo would wigout, burton go to
the link I gave you in the PM I sent Gyro 101 watch that video and then post back here with your
thoughts. I think this will be the best way to help you at this point.

Let me know

ive used the tower pro on the cyclic and telebee gyro with the tower pro sg90 tail, and it flies very smooth. Yes its good when you have the good sercos and electronics, but if you know how to set it up the right way, you wont have any problems. Well it helps when you have those cmputerized tx. If you guys are planning to buy either dx7 or dx6i, id rather go and choose dx7. this tx can program up to 20 model and its way better than dx6i.

ok guys i get what your saying about the noise with the down wash going to rudder but my belt cp does not make any real nosise and ive been watching videos online and all the heli that i see makeing 360 in both direction are so smooth and quiet.. plus it is so annoying and distacting it makes me think something is breaking thats how bad it is i really don't think this is the same sound u guys suggested i made this video in my basement so u can hear it better check it out

burton, Yea I can hear some kind of sound, almost sounds like gear mesh troubles. are all the
frame screws tight around the tail drive pulley? or is there any damage to the tail blades? nicks,
chips? it may also be a bad bearing in the tail section. you mite want to loosen the boom and check
the bearing in the tail. it would not take much for a small bearing to scream like a school gril.
Check these things and let me know cause this will make me nuts till you find the trouble. Iam like that.

Gear mesh is how tight gears are next to each other. So on tail it is how tight is belt :grinn:

ok guys i did alot of

experimenting and changing around i checked out the belt and tail so i put a new belt on cause the one i had on there and a few teeth on it that looked choppy cause i did catch my show lace in the tail one time and heard grinding so put new belt on checked the bearings and even put brand new tail blades on still made the noise so then i thought hummm ATV on gyro so messed with that and basicly i got my right rudder turns quiet as can be like it supposed too so i was likie YES that was it all smooth but then i noticed that everything works with no noise and smooth exceplt for my left turns now well my left rudder works BUTT my servo arm swing is so little that my left turns are sooooo slow ......so basicly everything thing works but me left turns are so slow now i can fix that but then my right turns are loud as hell again so it something to do with the tail slider setup ansd ATV i c an fix one side but then the other makes the noise what the hell is going on here

burton, OK did ya center the servo arm on the output shaft? and make sure the trim tab is centered
set atv, subtrims, make sure everything is at center then try and get the servo arm 90 to the servo
case you may have to use a diff servo arm to get it as close as you can to 90 this will ensure that
you get the same amount of movment in both directions because this is why you are not getting the same amount of control both ways. Ho did ya go check out the video at HeliFreak? this video will shine light on what you are trying to do here. But you are so close that I can smell it.

ok can when it come to centering the tail slider i don't get why they tell u to center it cause when u have your servo at 90 and set the tail slider in middle while the servo is at 90 and u go to do a test flight and it goes in one direction real quick so im learned that in order to get your heli nose straight while hovoring you need to set your tail slider to the left more if your looking at the heli from the back of it .. does everybody do this? or am i doing something wrong

burton the tail slider arm needs to be at 90 to the tail boom the part that the rod from the tail servo
is connected to So that the tail slider is centered on the tail rotor shaft it needs to be at center then you adjust the travel limit in your radio so that the tail slider does not bottom out in either direction
left or right input from the radio. Did I ask you what radio you have? And do you have a gyro with
a limit adjustment?

PostSubject: Re: Rudder Noise (normal?)   Rudder Noise (normal?) I_icon_minitimeWed Sep 30, 2009 6:34 pm

ok i get what your say but once u put servo at 90 then have the tail slider in middle then u adjust the ATV on the gyro so it does not bing the servo on each side right were like u hear it buzzing..is this the way i should do this right?

but what im saying once this is set up like this should the heli stay pointed straight give or take a tiny bit on movement to either side in witch case u then adjust the servo foward or back right?

but what im saying is AFTER i do all this i have to move the servo to i get my tail slider to the left thus keeping my straight.. but then it is all out of wack buy moving more to one side...

so should the heli be fairly straight when the setup is done like you said without have to adjust alot after wards to one side? i got that cheap radio on xheli for 50 bucks but it does program just got to use my computer

Okay burton lets change out the tail servo, do you have an HS55 on hand? even a HS81? cause Iam
thinkin now that maybe the servo is junk will not center itself. Try that and get back to me.

Rudder Noise (normal?) 479762 ok i think im at at points now guys were i say i give up no matter what i do i can't seem to do anything right i spent like 3 to 6 hours at a time trying to fig this thing out i just can't seem to get it were it should..

now it seems like it goes left and right ok but it isn't using the whole tail slider cause when i go right the whole tail slider is used but whne igo left theres like a space the size of when u put the slider in the middle when u set up so

basicly for my heli to keep the noise straight you have to set up the tail slider a lil more to the left to keep it straight but then now theres a space on the right and the tail slider doesn't get all used is that how its supposed to be or does thge whole tail slider suposed to be used?

i think this is all Rudder Noise (normal?) 479762 a lost cause now

burton DONT YOU GIVE UP. You are almost there No the tail slider should have the same travel both left and right. Now go into your radio programing and find the travel adjust setting for the rudder
channel and make sure it is set with the same amount of travel for both sides of center. Also you
can not use a digital servo unless your gyro has a setting for a digital servo or it will burn up the servo. One other thing make sure all the screws for the tail are tight cause if it is moving around that will cause some trouble as well.

So let me know

All that new stuff coming and you still plan on using that chepo Gyro? I had to
move my slider to one side to get the heli to be straight with a chepo gyro.
Then I installed the Futaba GY520 and everything works better. Good choice
on the DX7. $50 per heli for AR6100's but worth it.

I say since you are upgrading you need to dig deeper and get better gyro.
