PostSubject: Transmitter Neck Straps, Positioning, Fingers, Antenna, etc.   Wed Oct 14, 2009 4:38 am

Should I use a neck strap to help hold the transmitter?

Should I use my thumbs or should I use my thumbs and forefingers on the controls?

If I use my thumbs and forefingers, I have to tilt the transmitter at a down angle slightly...is this why the antenna on the 2.4Ghz tx ratchets up and down?

What position should the antenna be in relative to the copter or does it matter?

Anything online that shows how to hold the transmitter and what fingers to use, etc?

Thanks in Advance

In one of Nuttcaze's videos he suggested sitting down and holding the transmitter on your lap. This one simple suggestion gave me a lot better control and I can actually hover in a pretty small space now. If you have the transmitter sitting on your lap or a table or something, you can use your finger and thumb and have much finer control. Most peoples problem in all of RC is overcontrol.

angle and position of the 2.4 antenna hardly matters. Its advertised range is 5,000' and if you can see the heli that far away to be able to control it, then hats off to ya!

Any direction of 2.4ghz antenna is OK, as long it is not directly pointed to heli. Tip of antenna has a very weak signal orange6

One thing about using the strap I noticed...be very careful not to let the transmitter hang down or the throttle will likely push up and your copter will do bad things.

Happened to me, once..caught it in time. Scary.

I'm not sure if you are supposed to use your thumbs or use your thumbs and forefingers, or even if there is any universal agreement on this. However I noticed I tended to over-control using thumb/forefinger and just went with thumbs. Worked well.
