Subject: My 7th (& 8th) attempt with the HBFP v2 Wed Oct 14, 2009 7:56 am
Hi there,
I am new to the game of rc and received my HB recently. As our house is not suited for my indoor flight skills I moved to the garden.
To create a kind of flat spot I placed plastic cover on the grass. This helped me out the last LiPo's.
My trainings are about 10 minutes each, and untill today they were in wind speeds between 0.6 - 4.0 m/s. Nice and gusty and a rookie hell.
This morning there was a lack of wind (0.0-0.4 m/s) and I gave it a try. It went much better as before so I took the camera out and pressed the record button.
The HB is still out of the box (for 7 trainings) and not tuned. On the movie I can see it is a little tail heavy or the swash is not centred (I gues).
Also my movie editor somehow made the movie containing small shocks, do not now jet how to undo that effect.
I never thought I would say: I love no wind days! As I am a kitesurfer. So now I love them both: Windy or not
Feedback is always welcome!

Looks like you are doing a great job!!!
Try to keep it a minimum of 3 feet off the ground. That will keep you out of the downwash of the rotor and be much easier to control.
I had to adjust (shorten) the linkage down on the front of my swashplate because from the factory it was tilted back a little. Just eyeball it.
Keep up the good work!!!!

You are doing great. Remember that the training gear has some effect on your balance. Nice flying but try to keep the heli at 1 point and use little movement to correct it.
Keep up the good work. For living in Holland myself I know about windy conditions. Near the coast (where I live) there are almost no windy days.

Very good job flying. Keep up the good work. The heli is flying nicely and steady. The training gear will have an effect on it's performance, but someday you will have it off and it looks like that day will be soon.
Cheers.

I was looking for some downwash to train my reflexes and I will look for higher spheres.
I tried to shorten the linkage, and I did not succeed. It needs to come of the servo to and here I am stuck. The black piece will not rotate on manpower alone. Need some pliers to get it around I gues. Today an other try. Ad see if I can free the linkage rod from the servo arm without killing the servo.

I do my best to keep it at one place, I have side winds too. I am used to the sim were I fly with very responsive copters. Just a small stick movement will change all in no time. Seems that the HB reacts a lot slower. So after small stick input I will wait some longer to see the effects. This was the most addapting feature from leaving the sim to meet the HB. Responce time is so much longer then those HP copters in cyber world.

It flew to an other part of our garden :)
Would be a huge step leaving the training gear at home

I managed to turn the servo pushrods around and give them a better length.
When I look at the swash now I am so sure my hovers will get better. I had to correct the front leveler for 2.5 360 degree turns. Must be around 2mm orso.
After 9 LiPo's I finally set the swash :) Gues next will be a quick look at the peddles :)
Last night I tried to train in the dark. I noticed that without seeing the wing disk I am not able to fly. Damage only 75 cents (push rod to the blade holder).
Just the parts I did not order as spare

Not mutch flying today I'am afraid. To much wind in Holland.
Seems like always when I'am planning to go flying the wind starts to blow like hurricane size.
Have to do some indoor flying tonight at the club with the HB FP.
