So I've come to this stage where I can hover my HBFP V2 for many minutes to the extent of bringing it up to eye level where I can check the blades for tracking.

But the moment I go out in the open field and fly the V2, I tend to lose control upon its gaining height and me trying to manouevre it by playing with the cyclic. I dunno if its the wind or me just getting plain jittery that causes me to lose control. I still think its the latter coz the V2 can take some light wind right?

Would this be feasible? What if I lose control again out in the open. Should I let go of my right stick to let the heli balance off and control with the throttle and rudder stick till I get some kind of orientation or???

The problem with FP helis is that the rotors need to always be spinning to keep the heli stable but if you always give a FP throttle it'll just keep going up and up. When you let off the throttle the blades spin slower and you lose stability. I would make sure you know how to hover in all directions before going back outside. When outside with the HBFP V2, its is easier to keep the heli stable by constantly flying forwards rather then just hovering.

If you get time, watch the video of me flying outside with my HBFP V2, theres a part where I talk about bringing the heli back down safely after it gets carried high in the sky. It might be something for you to try in the future when outside.

Also never let go of the Right (Cyclic stick). The heli will almost instantly crash, single rotor helis don't balance themselves out like a coaxial will, they require constant input.

Tks for your valuable advice.

But I have space constraints so I think I will practice hovering in all directions in the open field. Its a big place good for practice but there's always some slight wind. Currently I practice in en enclosed height-limited car park and chances of crashing if I lose orientation is pretty high. Also damage is likely as its concrete as opposed to a grassy field.

Hope to be back with good news that I'm a confirmed pilot. :crylaugh:

I try to stay over my paved driveway because the bee will hit and slide, I break more parts when I crash over grass because it just sticks. I just broke a fly bar when I crashed in the grass and the blade stuck 2" in the dirt lol. It was very windy here but I had to try it anyway (I break more parts that way laughing013 ).
Good luck and happy landings flyaway

Look to the left. Build 1 of these. Cost about $10. You can set your tail for full stability and lock it down to track you blades. :bigthumb:

Super Skids also sells blades that are made specifically for hovering, they don't have much FF performance but if all you're doing is hovering then I'd try a pair. They are better then stock blades but I don't know how that will help/affect your learning but I think you should get some. Even the XP's are better then the stock blades but the Bee really wants to flyy with them blades on it flyaway

When you say the EZs are only good for hovering, are you saying that they would not even be good for learning forward flight at all? Even slow flight 8's or circuits? I was thinking of getting a pair, but don't know to go for them or the XPs. I can hover quite well with the stock blades, so maybe just stick with them until I'm ready for major FF?
