PostSubject: 3 Li-po's in 15 min.   3 Li-po's in 15 min. I_icon_minitimeThu Nov 05, 2009 7:33 pm

I just got my HBFP working excellent. Balanced everything, tied every screw, and there's no vibration at all anymore. Took me a while so I'm happy.

Now I'm practicing my hovering and it seems my flytime is very short. Feels like after a minute or 3 it starts to go down. So I stop, put in another li-po, and start flying again.
Checked my clock and I flew 3 li-po's in under 15 minutes. Is this normal? I thought I could get at least 7 to 10 minutes of flying on a lipo.

Also, another thing I notice is that when I fly and the heli doesn't seem to wanna lift anymore I land it. Wait for a couple minutes (check if I didn't break anything:) and rev it up again. Then it wants to lift up in the air again, no problem, for a couple of minutes.
Is this normal?
I'm wondering what the problem is cause I don't think the Li-po's are bad...maybe the motor?

I'm sorry if I'm asking stupid questions, or questions already answered, but I can use the help :)

thanx in advance

Not a stupid question, yes, it sounds like you should try a new main motor if you have one on hand. How much total time do you think you have on the motor? I don't know about anyone else, but I probably only get 5 min of flight time out of my stock battery. Closer to 8 min on my 1000mah batteries. Talking actual flight time here. I normally set her down a couple times during a battery because my brain still needs a little rest to be able to keep up with the heli! :hahaha:

Woah, like from nowhere all of a sudden I have a signature, and it's my red HB!

I think I need to order a new motor, just to check. I don't know how much time the motor was flown, bought it 2ndhand (never doing that again btw...).
The li-po's I'm using are a 7,4 900mah 15c, and two 7,4 860mah 15c. Is your 1000mah also 7,4 15c?

The 15 minutes I counted wasn't even actual flytime cause I also set it down a couple of times to rest lol :)

nice signature btw:)

I think Nutt must have put my signature in for me...Anyway, I'm running an HBFPv2 on 11.1v 850mah 20C stock battery and two 11.1v 1000mah 25C lipos. It sure won't hurt to try a new motor. I think it's been said before, but you should only fly what you can afford to fix. I have had my HB for only about a month and I've spent well over $150 in spare parts and batteries, but guess what...I've never been down. I'm not suggesting you be foolish about it, but I would suggest that most parts being $1-3 at xheli you go and buy yourself plenty to keep her in the sky.

Take a look at one of my first threads: https://myrcguidesforum.forumotion.net/4ch-fp-and-co-axial-helicopters-f7/hbfp-upgrades-can-someone-help-please-t1314.htm I still don't know if there is any validity to burining in the motors, but I've got probably over 2 hours of actual flight time on my main and no sign of wear yet. Look into the fuse mods and o-ring mods will save you some $$ on repairs!

Thanx, I'm getting that new motor. Wouldn't hurt. I still have the HBFP 1, so I'm a little anxious to try an 11.1 battery, but still the 7.4 should get more than 3 or 4 minutes I think.
Fuse mod is already done:)

Speaking of a new motor:

what's the difference between this: Main Motor 370# w/ 9T 0.5M Pinion
and this: Main Motor 370# w/ 10T 0.5M Pinion

First one is with 10T pinion, and second is with 9T pinion. I think stock pinion is 10T. With 9T pinion you will have less head-speed. I would get the one with 10T pinion :prop:

Oops got the 9T....but: it works great. Great flytime, and starting to get better :)
