PostSubject: Advice on big heli   Tue Nov 10, 2009 2:03 am

I'm ready for a more stable machine. I've been flying the Falcon 40 for 6 months now and it's time to take off the training wheels; it just doesn't cut it anymore. I'm very proficient with it, but I don't feel it can be taken to another level.

I want a bigger heli; 500 or 600. After reading tons of threads, I'm still not sure if the EXI 500 the TREX 500 or 600 is right for me. I'm in western WYO where the wind blows like Linda Lovelace! I know the TREX is expensive, but what are the main differences?

Money's always an issue, but I don't want to compromise for performance. I want a bigger heli! I'm selling the $16,000 snowmobile, so tell me how to spend some cash!

Thanks in advance!

Hope you're still watching your thread.

I'd suggest a clone of the TRex, but be aware some clones are higher quality than others. As best as I can tell, from reading and personal experience, the CopterX and the EXI are the best, followed by the lower quality HK (Hobby King).

The best price for CopterX is in Hong Kong http://www.ehirobo.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=334_174&products_id=6193

And the EXI is available from XHeli in California http://www.xheli.com/exi500.html

And also HDX available from HeliDirect in Mass http://www.helidirect.com/hc500se-kit-g10-frame-carbon-fiber-blades-1320kv-brushless-motor-p-10484.hdx , don't know much about this brand, other than it is also a TRex cone.
