Belt CP V2 Replacement Empty
PostSubject: Belt CP V2 Replacement   Belt CP V2 Replacement I_icon_minitimeMon Oct 19, 2009 6:22 pm

Hey guys,

I crashed my Belt CP V2 really badly the other day. Total damage is around $60 in replacement parts. I'm trying to decided if I should buy the replacement parts from xheli to fix it, or to buy a new kit. Some of the kits I'm looking at are the following:

Kit: HM-450
Price: $29.99 +shipping
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=8467

Kit: CopterX 450 AE V2
Price: $59.99 +shipping
http://www.hobbydaddy.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=150_154&products_id=9070

Kit: EXI 450 (Plastic Version) V2
Price: $39.99 +shipping
http://www.xheli.com/exi450arfrar.html

Kit: EXI 450 (Aluminum) V2
Price: $49.99 +shipping
http://www.xheli.com/exial450ve2r.html

My plan is to switch over my electronics from my Belt CP V2, and I have a few questions:

1) Will the electronics from the belt cp v2 work on all these?

2) Is it easy to get spare parts for these?

3) Which kit do you think is the best?

I still crash a lot, so price is a big factor to me. From what I hear, the all metal CopterX is probably the best out of the ones above, but I'll likely crash it again soon, so I'm not sure the metal is all worth it for me right now. The HM-450 or plastic EXI 450 are very tempting because I could buy 2 for the price of 1 copter x.

What do you guys think? Any other kits I should consider?

Thanks!

-Keith

I'd get either the EXI 450 V2 or the copter x, which ever is cheaper in total cost. but i'd still lean towards the Copter x.

Tou could use the esky 3800 but you will need to buy a new pinion and pry the old one off, you would need either a 10t or 11t pinion and they need to be for a 2.3mm shaft

Hopefully by now you've upgraded the ESC otherwise do so now, it'll breathe new life into the 3800.

The servos and gyro will work fine for basic flight. Are you planning on using the stock ESky radio system?

Thanks Nuttcase!

I am planning on using the stock motor, esc, and TX/RX for now. Good to know about the pinion. Will this work?

Let me know if you need help getting everything to move in the proper direction. I can't remember exactly but I did have to change some things to get it to work the right way.

but get your pinions from helidirect and get ones that use allen grub screws to hold the pinion on.

So I finally got a kit to swap over my parts. I ended up getting the EXI 450 Plastic Version 2:

http://www.xheli.com/exi450arfrar.html

I've started to put it together and plan to use all of my electronics from the ESKY Belt CP V2. I've run into a few issue so far:

1) What screws do you use to mount the servers to the frame? The screws from the belt CP were too small for the EXI frame, and I didn't find anything that would work with the parts the EXI came with. Nuttcase, I saw in your video that you had servo screws with nuts on the back. I don't have any of those, where can I get something like that?

2) Motor - It doesn't look like the shaft is long enough on the stock Belt CP motor for the pinion to reach the gear on the EXI. Did others run into this issue? Do I have to buy a new motor?

3) Servos - The Belt CP used 2 servos to control the back half of the swash and 1 up front. The EXI seems to use 2 servos up front and only 1 in the back. Which is the exact opposite. Do I need to do anything special to accommodate this on the RX/TX?

Thanks so much everyone! This is the first kit I've ever attempted to build, so any help would be greatly appreciated!
