Lipo Battery Pillowing Empty

Could someone please explain the cause of lipo's pillowing and are they safe to use when this happens.I have an esky lipo that has only been charged about a dozen times but for some reason it is now twice the size it was when it was new.
Any help on this subject would be great orange44
