I read somewhere that it is best to let the main motor on the HBFP cool down and flying a full battery before flying again.

Has anyone else heard this?

Does it extend the motor life?

I've heard that. Don't know if it's necessary, but it sounds like a good idea to me. thinking I let mine rest for about 5 or so minutes before flying again. I also do it with my Dauphin and also my Belt CP.

Thanks for the feedback on this and the trim question, Donnie.

Greatly appreciated!

yeah its def best but the HBFP motors are so cheap I don't bother usually, but in FF (forward flight) the air usually keeps the motor pretty cool , especially the tail motor as in FF it doesn't have to work as hard as when its just hovering

Cooling down the motor before fling again should help the longevity of your carbon brushed motor. Another good way to help dissapate the heat is to get motor heat sinks. They are available for the main motor as well as the tail motor. Goto:

You dont need to do that on belt cp because it has brushless motor smiley-happy088

For those who don't care to wait for a motor cool down, consider switching to a brushless motor system. The motor stays cool to the touch since it is more efficient than conventional carbon brushed motors. No more heat sinks and the motor will last virtuall forever as tere are no brushes to wear out. A motor that is cool to the touch also means ou can fl all day. Just swap our LIPO Batteries IN/OUT and you are good to go.

Check out the video of the modified brushless main mtoro system on the E-Sky HBFP heli.
