Here is a trick in use on most items that dont have fuses already fitted.

Inline Fuse Inlinefuse2

I find a length of wire needed to be cut.

Then insert a spade fuse with two spade crimps.

This would save your ESC from frying.

You would also need to work out what rating fuse to use.

Hi there, I have recently installed a fuse like this in my honeybee fp, I have the xtreme 380x motor, and 2s 7.4v lipo.

The first 2x hovers, there was no problems at all.

The second time I went to fly, the fuse blew on the first thrust of the throttle, which I thought was a bit weird.

I put a new fuse in, and that did the same....

Then I put the 3rd fuse in, and that seemed ok, I was buzzing around, keeping it close and low, just in-case it went down.

I am currently using a 7.5a blade fuse, would I be better going up to a 10a fuse?

I have just got a nice new 2.4ghz honeybee, and do want to protect my 4 in 1, but dont want to have to use a fuse if it is going to be really tempermental about when its going to randomly blow!

Help me!!!!!

Also, I was wondering....

If I did happen to ever destroy my 4 in 1, how do you go about buying a new 4 in 1 receiver for my exsisting transmitter if they dont have crystals in the 2.4ghz???

Thanks all!

Of course try to install 10A fuse orange74 And when you buy new 2.4ghz 4in1 you need to use bind plug to bind it to your transmitter. They are very cheap, but you can even make your own orange58

I've looked and asked about a "forumula", with no success. I was looking into a fuse to keep the ESC from getting blown out. So, the fuse should be slightly higher than the peek current the ESC should pull, so maybe a 32 or 35A fuse for a 30A ESC. That would prevent "normal" spikes from blowing out your fuse.

But this is all theory, so mabye someone with your heli and type of ESC could comment more.

The reason you use a 7.5A fuse on the HB 4in1 is that 8A is enough to burn it out. A group of pilots in Iraq with nothing better to do at the time tested them to see what the point of no return was. I would look into why you are blowing the 7.5A fuse.

Because he is using extreme 380x motor which is pulling more amps than stock motor. 7.5A is not enough for that motor.

I have been using a 10a fuse in it for a few weeks now, with no issues whatsoever.
I have even flowen 3x batteries in a row without a break in between (apart from changing them) for 7mins each, no probs at all!!!
Im not sure if the fuse would be small enough to cut out if I hit the ground without cutting the throttle, to save shearing the main gear etc... But I am rather good at forseeing my crashes, and cut the throttle well before hand!
