PostSubject: HoneyBeeFP no power   HoneyBeeFP no power I_icon_minitimeSat Aug 01, 2009 2:39 pm

Hey guys,
a week ago I bought HBFP with LIPO battery installed and begun learning to hover. After about 10 batteries I made quite a progress in balancing, trimming the heli and maintaining it in hover but suddenly after another recharge I observed it isn't possible to lift off more than for a feet off the ground, with luck it gets higher but immediately returns near ground. I'm quite disappointed because it's virtually new, less than 2hours of flight. I figured I should blame the engine or the battery, or maybe also the balance weights (4 nuts in front).I read somewhere the main engine should last 10-20 h, also measured the LIPO, analog voltmeter showed something less than 8V so the battery should be alright.

Does anybody have an advice?
I would really appreciate your help.

I'm planning to buy another battery, will need it anyway, to exclude battery fault. And then a new engine if nothing else helps.

you have got to make sure the flybar paddles are properly set for pitch/angle.
if they are and you haven`t crashed to ruin the main blades it`s gotta be the battery or main motor
you`re gonna need another battery and motor anyway so you won`t be wasting your money

thx for answer. The paddles are same pitch, aligned with the swashplate, if this is alright. Original main blades are balanced and track about the same. On second thought, after reading other posts, I suspect the battery because I think I used it several times until nearly total depletion (main blades not turning, tail prop slowly turning and twitching).
Yes, I didn't know LIPOs are so sensitive, my wrong. I'll stick to the 6 minute rule from now on and will buy a Mystery 900mAh LIPO.

it is pretty simple. Fly only for 6 minutes to avoid battery damage and prolong its life. The guys in RC heli somehow made up this rule for stock Honey Bee.

You can probably fly longer than six minutes on most heli's, but it is a good rule to follow until you get a charger that displays individual cell voltages or some way to accurately read your individual cell voltages after each flight. Then you can set your own times.

I limit my HBFP flights to about 6 to 7 minutes. My Belt CP to about 7 to 7 1/2 minutes, and my E-Smart to about 8 1/2 to 9 minutes. Depends on the mAh rate of the battery I'm using.
