Addicted to RC Helicopters!

Hey guys,

I'm new to the forums and relatively new to RC Helicopters, and I just wanted to say hi.

First off, I wanted to thank Nuttcase for all of the amazing video tutorials and the huge wealth of knowledge on these forums and his website. Truly awesome! I stumbled on this place a few days ago, and I've been soaking up everything I can since then.

Secondly, I got into RC Helicopters about 2 years ago. My first bird was an ESKY Honey Bee FP --the old ones with crappy skids, NiMh batteries, etc. I dragged a friend into the hobby and neither of us had ever flow RC flying anythings before. We had a ton of fun attempting to learn, and mostly crashing / rebuilding our birds. I got to the point where I can hover without too much trouble and can do some basic forward flight. Tons of fun.

I took about a year and a half break from flying until recently. I think this article on techcrunch is what rekindled my interested. Have you see this? Totally awesome:

Ever since reading it, I've been wanting to get back into flying. I've been spending all my time reading about helis, and I just ordered a Esky Belt CP2! I've been flying my FP around a lot in anticipation of getting my new bird! My wife thinks I'm thoroughly addicted, and I'm really excited to move to the world of collective pitch!

Thanks Donnie! I see you're from NC. I grew up in Cary, NC.

I'm fairly new here too, the Guy's here are great and will try to help in any they can. I have a CP V2 and it's superb. I have to agree with you, this heli business is very addictive

Great. I'm in the Northeastern corner of the state.
My sister, her husband and their two kids (both also married) live in Annapolis, not too far frm you.

Hey Axel, nice to meet another beginner with the same bird! I'll have to post some photos when I get it. My old Esky HB FP is a frankenstein looking beast at this point, not really photo worthy, I'm amazed it still flies! The glue / tape to parts ratio is quite high ;-)

When set up correctly it's superb, hovers really nice, not brave enough to try anything else yet

Sweet! Those are great photos!

Anyone know if the Belt CP2 would be big enough to carry a small video camera? Something like and iPod touch, or flip camera?

I have seen on youtube someone had a camera fitted to their V2, unfortunatley they didn't say what type of camera it was. There are various cameras available from many model shops though. I'm sure someone here will have some info though, if no replies in this thread, then you may have to start a new one.

Here's a photo of my Esky HoneyBee FP:



All the electronics are stock. Replaced the frame with the super skids. The blades are quite banged up, but it still flies just fine. These things really take a beating and keep flying.

Can't wait to get my new heli. The Belt CP V2 should arrive by next Friday!

Had one a couple weeks and we had soooo much fun I had to do it again now!!! Couldn't wait for next year!! So please join us if you can!!
