| and funny at the same time, I love having the pics and vid to prove it, one thing I learned long ago with my HBFP is no matter what you can't be afraid to crash, it really inhibits your progression in learning to fly, IMO. | |

| Ahh, crash thread!! Here's my first crash after attempting a flip... And with it put back together. The second set of these blades were REALLY bad for balance. I ran out of balancing tape and had to use other sticky things!! It flies great again, though. | |

| Well, its just as they say even if they're crash pics I was just thinking about crashing my ES600, I've spent twice as much time flying my ES600 then all the other helis I've flown combined, But I've only crashed the ES600 4 times compared to the 100 or soo crashes with the other helis akent what exactly was broken in that crash | |

| Well: 1. All cyclic servo gears (DS821), so cheap to repair. 2. Main shaft. 3. Feathering shaft. 4. Boom. 5. Belt 6. Horizontal fin. 7. All blades. 8. Frame was all bent up. I bought a CF upper set and used my spare lower set. (I could probably straighten the old frame, but it would take some work.) 9.Flybar. (K&B paddles were scuffed, but Ok!) 10. L shaped tail control part (I'm on the only spare now, so will build up a Spare tail from Swift parts soon. THANKS for that!) 11. FG canopy. 12. The 2nd bottom frame plate that I used in front for the battery tray. 13. The bottom frame plate. 14. Tail control rod. 15. A few head links. 16. Tail hub. (Had to cut down a new one to fit.) Probably more that I can't remember. EDIT to add more broken stuff: 17. Tail shaft. 18. Tail pulley. 19. BOTH main shaft bearings (These were notchy. Not sure if from the crash or just bad bearings). All the Esky parts are cheap to replace! This crash would have been REALLY expensive if it were a Trex 600 or similar. The most expensive parts were the blades! What survived was the Trex 600 landing skids! That was amazing. The 3300 battery is crinkled, but still works fine and has the same capacity as it did! The DS620 tail servo was OK, too!!! That's really amazing, as it ripped the ball right off the L shaped part and mangled the control rod. Some of the head parts were bent a little, but I was able to straighten them. Here's the heli before the crash, so you can see where stuff is mounted. Other side: With that arrangement, the heli balanced perfectly. It did leave the battery and tray somewhat more vulnerable. Kent

| Oh, and that Mystery 100a ESC caught on fire after the crash. It didn't look damaged! Luckily the fire was local to the ESC. It didn't burn anything else up, but it did leave a few scorch marks on the landing skids.
So, now the heli sports a new Hobbywing Pentium HV 100a ESC. It has a very nice super soft start up. I am now running HW's on my 450, 500 and the 600! I also had two Align ESC's go bad, so it's HW for me from now on. Kent

What mystery ESC were you using. Pentium series (yellow)? How soft start works on them? I bought 80A version for my e-smart

| That was a Mystery Pentium 100a. I don't think it had a soft start. At least I could never get that set. I never could get it into setup mode reliably. It also had a brake that I could not turn off.
That was the worst ESC I have ever seen.
I sure hope yours is better. Kent

| I wouldnt buy it and dont think anyone else here would. Not to be mean but a lot of us have had our esmarts plummet to the ground.
I bought a chepo 100 amp esc and it went bad on the 6th flight and my esmart came right down to the ground.
If you really want to buy cheap esc use seperate bec and turn off the one on the esc. That way you have a chance of saving the heli when the esc goes bad.

| One of the beauties of the ES600 design is the complete freedom to set the machine up however you like! There is room for all kinds of various setups!
And I see that in your second one that you used the extended front plate! I really like that idea. The CG is easy to get with larger batteries.
Very nice, Nuttcaze! Kent

| I've found on mine that the larger batteries (around 4500-5000mAh) usually balance better for me in the lower tray but if I wanna use a lighter battery it definitely has to go on the tray to balance the heli properly | |

| Nuttcaze, Your Esmart pictures gave me some good information on mounting the AR6200 on my EXI500 CF. It will be my first dual antenna receiver and I wasn't sure on where to position each of the items. Thanks again for all of your help, without you I would have a lot more money, wait that's not what I meant to say! I may need a heli intervention! | |
