hello
i fly this heli since 3 month now, i have some questions i dont really understand:
when i setup the servo arms to 90°, do i do it in idle up mode @mid stick? mine was out of the box set to 90° in normal mode and when i switch to idle up mode the arms stand in freaky angles.
i wanted to setup the heli with the rod lenghts written in the manual, but they just dont fit. or is this because my heli is setup in normal mode?
when i fly and switch in idle up mode the heli has negative pitch for some reason. i checked with diconnected motor mid stick pitch and it was 0° - normal mode also had 0°, but the heli comes down relatively fast and i have to use 3/4 throttle to stay in the air. is it normal that the heli doesnt hover mid stick in idle up but it does in normal mode?
thanks for useful answers :)

Yes Everything must be set up in Idle up at mid-stick.. After that you should not have the other problems you mention..

well, that just didnt help :(
i de-mounted every rod, set each lenght what the manual said and reassembled everything.
the wipe, which is mounted on the pitch compensator didnt stay horizontal at all. it was like 30°.
i used my eyes in lenghten the rods to make the swash plate go up till the wipe on the pitch compensator stands nearly horizontal. this plastic parts are the hell. i really think to get the complete aluminium head. my heli flew so damn nice, now i have made everything worse
ill do a test-flight today when the wind isnt like a hurricane anymore but i dont think i will be satisfied. i wish nuttcaze was here to setup this heli one time.

Well Gary, If you would like I will get you thru the set up, What Radio are you using and do you have the CNCmetal parts?

im using the original e-sky radio i was only thinking about getting the cnc aluminium parts, nothing ordered yet. i was in the hope i could get it to work right with the stock parts.
what i need is the height of the swash plate. if i knew that, i could lenghten the rods and then the other things would be easy.
how is it possible:
idle up mode mid-stick - motor disconnected: = 0°
normal mode stick down - motor disconnected: = 0°
but when i fly and activate the idle up mode the heli seems to have negative pitch and goes down!?

Gary, Set up your swash as you have it, make sure it is LEVEL... Raise or lower the swash to getr the max. pitch you want at full stick in Idle up.. I would shoot for +11 / -11..OK? So, do not worry about the hight of the SWASH. Set everything, then go to full stick, check pitch, raise the SWASH if you need more pitch..Do that by leighting each linkage the same amount.. Once you have 11' pitch go back to MID stick in Idle up,check for SWASH LEVEL, Then readjust for zero if nesseary. Now you should have zero at mid,11 at full and -11 at zero stick.. You really do not need to worry about the height of the swash...Please try this..

From what you describe, at mid stick in idle-up, it would drop like a rock. Your blades are at zero pitch so you are not generating any lift. I think with the stock transmitter, in idle-up mode, you have 50% (+) pitch at 3/4 throttle, and that is why you are able to keep in in the air at that setting. Any less and even though you have head speed, you don't have enough pitch to keep it in the air. And any less then 1/2 throttle, and you are forcing the heli down with (-) pitch.

In Idle up it should have neg. pitch when less than 50% stick!!! Idle Up should be 0' at mid + pitch above 50% stick and - pitch below 50% stick!!!!

im out of ideas at the moment.
i've set the swash plate and main blades, mid stick idle up is 0°,
max idle up is +7.5° min idle up is -5°
min normal mode is +2°
throttle/pitch trim is down all the way.
i've tested hovering in the room, it hovers quite nicely and takes off the ground at mid stick. no idea what is wrong. if you need any pics, let me know.

i have nearly fixed it, i only have 1° difference between left side to the right side.
i had to set it up with throttle/pitch trim set to the middle in idle up mode and move the swash plate up ~1mm.

ok, i finished adjusting so far, just no chance to test it more intensive, wind/storm is very strong these days :(
i have now:
idle up: | -8° | 0° | +8° |
normal stick down: 0°
last week, before i began to make things worse with adjustments, i flew with strong wind. idle up no big problem, but no chance to land with normal mode
as soon i switched to normal mode the heli climbed 20m and i didnt want to land like a stone with motor @ 0 power so i hovered in idle up mode 20cm over the ground and disabled idle up followed with fast stick down. worked :)
when the wind calmes down i will test the new settings + video :)

Bud, Get a DX& as soon as you can!! Even a DX6 if thats all you can!! With a DX7 you can set up a curve so you can very easliey land in the wind!! I have set my IDLE 1 with a curve that gives me pretty much everything the Normal IDLE UP does BUT I can land!!!! Of course you need to be very careful till you get used to it and even after you must watch out for hard landings but I've been flying with this type of a set up for months now with only one hard landing!!!!

hey,
i have a girlfriend, so i cannot spend all my money into this nice hobby
the dx7 is a nice piece, but way too expensive for me. i saw the new art-tech 2.4ghz 6ch transmitter, $99, maybe i get this one.

That looks OK!! As long as it has the curves that you can set you will be ok in that regard!! Good luck!!

ok, I DID IT!
today i was in a good mood and thought i could fly, just fly.. i didnt want to hover around, so i took off and flew.
it wasnt a perfect flight, i have to practice the tail following in the curves, but.. it was a beginning.
the new settings work, i only wonder why uplift is half the speed downlift with negative pitch is. -8/0/+8 but ok, i had an adrenalin shock today

after days trying to get the swash plate level when moving it up or down i found some problems:
1: the original horns on the aileron servos are too long! the rod from the servo to the 90° arm was not level. i always wondered why the swash plate tilted up when at the top or it tilted down when at the bottom. i replaced these horns with other horns and now it moves the same way the elevator rod moves.
2: when i change the direction when the swash plate moves i get a tilt of it on the front. it looks like there is backlash somewhere.
is it normal that the inner side of the swash plate rotate by ~1mm when i change the direction? when this thing begins to rotate, the swash plate gets the tilt!
i've ordered a control arm set today, which connects to the inner part of the swash plate, in the hope to eleminate it this way. if anyone has the same problem or figured out how to solve this, please let me know. thx

Mine is just the opposite as yours was. In idle up my servo arms are at 90 degrees, but in normal they are at alot different angles. Here are my settings. idle up on, 0 stick-5 degrees mid stick+ 3 degrees, full throttle +13 degrees normal mode, 0 stick+3degrees, mid stick +7 degrees, full stick +14 degrees I had throttle trim all the way down also. Thats how nutcaze says do it in his set up video. Can you give me details on what you did to yours? I'm going to check my blade pitch again in the morning with trim set in center. I hovered mine in the garage yesterday and it lifted off fine in naormal at mid stick.

when you get it inverted it'll be the other way around, lol, but the Belt CP isn't a 3D monster so you would need to get a better motor and battery before you will get insane punch outs.

at first i tried with throttle trim down too but that didnt give me the same negative pitch in idle up as it does when giving positive pitch so i centered it and voila, works.
i replaced the servo horns against horns with holes, so i can go a notch down. works.
set it up in idle up mode, midstick and set the blades to 0°. if you get different degree at max stick positions, you have to upper or lower the swash plate and then reset the blades pitch to 0° and test again.
