The instructions for the GY520 say that you should use 30% expo on the rudder.
I was just looking at the telebee gyro instructions that recomend 25% expo.

I used to run 0~2% for the heck of it but yesterday I tried 25% and I really
liked it.

I was wondering what everybody else might be running and if this is news
to them?

On my Belt CP i have the stock rate gyro and I have expo on inhibit.

On my ES 600 I have the new version Telebee and have expo on 8%.

Next time I fly, I'll increase it on both and let you know the results.

Interesting how everyone allways talks about the need for such a fast tail servo, but the gyro manufacturers recomend that much expo.

I was checking out runryder forum and one of the vets was talking about using
50% expo on rudder.

Donnie, I dont think that servo speed has to do with rudder expo. I notice that because of
the higher expo it was easier to manage the throttle while doing 360 pirouettes.

It felt like I had to move the rudder input farther to the side which made the throttle
easier to manage at the same time.

I was able to spin the heli 360 nice and slow without the heli moving up or down.

now that I've gotten to play with some nicer tail servos, I think I finally understand why you want a fast one, not so that the tail will be more responsive (hence gyro manufactors saying to increase the expo for the rudder) but the real reason is so that they can respond to inputs from the gyro quicker, so that with a quicker tail servo you are less likely to have your tail blow out when you really punch the throttle. But this goes hand in hand with having a nice gyro too.

Yeah thats right....The gyros now are processing the info much faster. Like the
newer computers today. So you need a fast servo that can keep up with the gyros
brain.

I found a good explanation of why to use expo on the net but cant find it again.
I have been experamenting on the sim today with rudder expo. I likeed it on
many of the different helis I fly. Only some helis worked good with 12% and
others 25%...

I think its something to try anyway because once you dial in your controls, you
will fly better overall.....

I would love for others to clue us in to what they might be working with.
