I've been out of the hobby for some time and getting back into it with a Belt CP that I got. I'm hopelessly addicted again and should've never got out of it.
Anyway, In less than a month I've had two crashes on it. I attribute the first one to the lovely 25A ESC on there because it cut power suddenly when it overheated and what do ya know. . . . BOOM! LOL. Minor stuff with the head assembly and I took the time to upgrade the ESC to a 30A Exceed Volcano series.
Today, I was flying through all off my batteries in a hover trying to get used to everything again and using a little bit of forward flight. While starting to land, for no apparent reason my CP took a dive for the worst, and rolled off to the right hard and BOOM!!!!. . . doing about $50 - $80 worth this time. I was within 15 meters of it and about two and a half feet off the ground. There wasn't a loss of power at all. Just a hard roll off to the right like maybe a linkage rod came off.
Has anyone had this problem? I checked everthing to have to do with the flybar and elevator controls and all of that was still in tact with no deformities other than the main shaft and feathering shafts that were bent. All servo linkage rods and connections were still in place and quite oddly with the crash that happened, all of the linkage rods escaped unharmed. After stripping everthing down (tail boom and all that was broke) I ran the servos through to see if they were all working and they appear to be ok and not stripped. I have some coming in just in case.
I just bought it back in the beginning of June and only have a couple hours of flight on it. I've been spending more time on the Real Flight Sim more than anything to get back into the swing of things.
My version is just the plain jane Belt CP w/ the stock Esky brushless motor but I've upgraded the ESC. It is the FM version and not a 2.4 Ghz. I'm working on that one. It was a pretty calm day here in central Texas with very little wind (an oddity in itself), and I had already ran two batteries through it with no problems, taking some time between to let the engine and ESC cool, and check and recheck all linkages and screws. I programmed the ESC for a soft cutoff and I only had about 5 minutes going on the battery that I was using. The ESC wasn't even all that warm when I went up to it after the crash.
Was just trying to see if anyone has any info about this type of problem with the Belt CP they may have. Just really p*@#$d me off that this happened, because I can't figure out what went wrong too. LOL! Oh well, I'll just keep on keeping on. HA! Please help if you can.
