Subject: HoneyBee FP First flight !!! Thu Aug 20, 2009 6:16 am
I Purchased the Honeybee 004 FP, from Xheli.com when I got it I opened it up tightened all the screw charged the battery and took it into the Dinning room to take it for my first flight. When it throttled up the tail Started Spinning clock wise and the more throttle i gave it the faster it went around and around. I finally got it to stop spinning and slowly throttle up trying to get it to lift off slowly so it wouldn't take off and slam into a wall. I took the throttle to full throttle and the Heli barely lifted of the ground. I read you have to throttle it pretty fast to get it of the ground and once in the air you could throttle down, when i tried it all that happened was the tail went spinning around and slide across the floor. Any ideals to what I am doing wrong?

Cainsaw you realy need to watch all of nuttz videos on how to set up the HBFP ( http://mysite.verizon.net/bizwptdb/id8.html ) I've had more trouble getting my blades to track right, won't lift if to bad just vibrates and only get about about 2 feet off the ground....I just ordered a set of carbon fiber blades to see if that helps (not impresed with stock blades so far, but they are strong) http://www.heli-world.com/detail.aspx?ID=3685 ....
Good luck and happy flying

Hey thanks for the link to the Carbon Blades, i have been trying to find these at a cheaper price that $40.00 dollar. As for the Video i have watched all of his videos did the whole setup thing tried to balance blades replaced blades, nothing seems to be fixing the problem. I am going to create a video of what it is doing to see if anyone can help me figure this one out. It seems to me it is getting enough power to the blades but when i throttle up doesn't seem that the blades are tilting to get lift off. I disconnected the motor and checked the gyro to make sure it is working properly and it seems to be working correctly. When i first bought the Heli the battery got plugged into the 4in 1 wrong and fried it had to buy a new one, it cost over half of what the Heli cost me in the first place. Was wondering if that could have fried anything else when it happened? Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated thanks all.

And if you add more rudder (tail speed) it doesn't help? Maybe the tail motor is dying

I adjusted the 4 in 1 to give it more tail speed but i still get nothing the Heli keeps spinning around and around but won't lift off of the ground. Got me puzzled. I have tried everything i have seen on these forums trying to fix it but nothing seems to work, Just order new Carbon blades and new Batteries to see if that might be the issue. It seems to be getting enough power at full throttle but I am a newbie so i could be wrong.

I think tail motor might be died. Maybe you can upload a video of your honey bee?

your main motor is plugged in backwards, the main rotors are spinning the wrong way

Hey thanks a million i changed Wires around and the Heli stop spinning out of Control but I had drained the Battery trying to get it to fly so there was not enough power to get it to lift off. It came up about 2 IN hopefully when the battery fully charged it will lift off. I can't believe i didn't catch that the wire's where backwards but one of things of being a newbie i guess. Thanks for all the help will post if it lifts off after battery is fully charged.

welcome to rc heli heaven/HELL!! you`ll soon figure out that a seemingly tiny adjustment can make such a BIG difference!! just try to remember that the blades turn clock-wise as you look down on them,i made the exact same mistake when i started also, you do know that to spin the blades either way is just a case of turning the motor connector around before plugging in happy flying/trying and just remember we`ve all been a noob but it does get `SLIGHTLY ` easier

Hello guys well finally got Heli in the Air, just for a second but it lifted off finally. I am trying to make adjustments to get it to take off without the death shake and going to the left. From what i have read everyone seems to be saying that all HBFP will go to the left when lifting off you just have to control it and get it off the ground and in flight before it will stop. I had it airborne a few times but it started drifting left once airborne, any suggestions on what can be done to Heli to make a smooth take off?

You may have read about this but, when you are close to the ground, 0 - 3' you are going to be effected with ground effects. The air from the blades bouncing off of the floor/ground, walls etc. makes it more difficult to control close to the ground. It's difficult situation at first, when you don't want to get too high for fear of wiping out. As you gain more confidence you will lift off the ground more quickly, minimizing the ground effects. Also, when I was starting out with my HBFP I was overcontrolling. I call it stabbing at the sticks. The HBFP takes a split second to respond to inputs from the sticks, just enough time for you to think you have to give it more stick to respond. It can be kind of a snowball effect. Try and not overcontrol and get at least a foot or two off the ground and I think you will have more control. You really don't want to adjust out the liftoff drift because once you get in the air it will cause you to have drift that you will have to correct for while flying.
Hope this helps, post any more questions you may have.

Hello All i ordered a set of Carbon fiber blades on the 20/Aug/09 and received them on the 22/Aug/09 here in Hawaii, that is super fast shipping from Heli world in CA. But anyway was wondering does the carbon blades make that much of a difference when first learning to fly. I was thinking of installing them but i am still crashing alot and don't want to destroy a $20.00 set of blades unless it will make a world of difference in on take off and flight.

Cainsaw,
Here is a more economical option to your CF blades.
These guys have super fast shipping. The blades fly very well, are very durable, I find them much better than the stock HBFP blades. Save the CF until you aren't crashing as often.

Yea I know what you mean, I installed my new C/F blades on a new rotor head and then looked at how nice and new they looked together , then I looked at my old rotor head and blades and how scared and beat up they look , now I'm having seccond thoughts about putting them on and crashing. Oh well I still have a lot of spare's if they break lol, Just like 247 said "practice,crash,adjust/practice,crash,adjust/practice,crash,adjust.................."

do these blades fit on the stock rotor head? don`t know why but i thought these were for a different head, the xtreme or bell-hellier. if they fit on the stock i might try some
