Hi All. This is my first copter forum and relatively new to (trying) to fly. I am a retired and machinist from a paper mill in Maine. This hobby has got me hook line and sinker ,but,at my age it's a slow go. To me working on them is just as entertaining as flying. I have a small fleet of three a HBFP . Compy and my Belt CP. I'm looking forward to learning alot from everybody. Nice forum Nuttcaze My Helis 100_0164-1My Helis 100_0167My Helis 100_0164

Hey CC,

Welcome to the forum and to Rc helicopters. You're in for a lot of fun. Believe me, I know where you're coming from with the age thing. wheelchair Has probably taken me three times longer to progress to the level I'm at (which isn't much) than it would some of the younger guys. I'm not a good pilot, but I'm a wise pilot. old Also it is good that you enjoy working on them as much as flying, as this will make the hobby much better for you. You will probably be flying a well tuned helicopter, which makes all the differance in the world. By the way, what blades do you have on your HBFP. Look like Extreme 10 degree pitch.

Have fun,
Donnie D smiley-happy088

Hey Copter craz, Good to have you aboard, i think at times its easier for us "old guys" to learn cause we got some degree of patience that the younger dudes ain't..
Great to have someone from the Moosehead region with us. I spent many years as a kid there in the summers, and a couple xmas holidays. I guess the millinocket I knew is changed a little!!! I stayed at/on Moosehead Lake, and worked at Moosehead Lodge. Been back with the family to the birches a few years ago bvut can't wait to get there again!!! The Main state HOG Rally will be there this year and I was hoping to make it there for that but its not to be. Those are some of the best memories of my life, trout at second west branch and the stream at cocajo(might not have spelled thet right)
And the bears at the Greenville dump!!!! AHHHHH the best!!!!
Well bud you really really must try really hard to make it to the FunFly here in July!!!!

welcome sign

Hey coptercrazy,

I think you will find the folks here freindly and helpful, so jump on it!

That is one sweet fleet you have there... Check out the RADD school of flight, and Nuttcaze has good learning tips also.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, it's appreciated. Nice to hear from someone who values the state of Maine for what it is a great place to live. Fatdaddy we have more in common than you think. I rode a 77 FLH for years until 2001 when 3 back surgerys made it impossible, but , I still have my bike in hopes that someday I'll be back on. Use to love to ride man. Donnie the blades I'm running on my HBFP are 9 degree with shrink wrap on about the last 2" just something I'm tring that seems to be working fine. The blades are lasting a lot longer, I also am running a Avionics 330 Baron brushed motor with Tower Pro servos and a double motor tail. This is my trainer heli I can actually fly this one around outside without getting in to much trouble, nose in and all, on the good days. Thanks again for the contact

PostSubject: Wow , bikes and backs!!   My Helis I_icon_minitimeWed May 20, 2009 5:12 pm

Wow your right about that, My year is up tomorrow since surgery. I'm allowed to ride after that. I think/know I'll be able to but don't know the level of pain I'll have after. Regardless of that I don't think I'd sell the FatBoy even If I cant. I'm lucky I can stand around in the yard long enough to fly my heli's Lookin up gives me a pain but I just pop a pill and fly on. Kinda like "House" Oddly I don't whtch that show but have been told I'm like him?? Well good luck with flyin and keep the rotors up. Any questions and you will find answers here!! We will do our best to help you with anything you might need.
And you will see Nuttsey is so gifted!!!!LOL

Thanks for the advice Tristar I'm on it.
That's what first sparked my interest with Nuttcaze, he was all about E-Sky

I think we mostly are still about ESky, Nuttsey too, especally the ESMART it is the best!!! I love mine!! It is soooo sweet to fly, I almost don't want to fly any of my smaller birds. It really is true that once you fly large you don't want to go back!! But the smaller brothers are still really a blast too. I don't think I'll ever give up my Esky's.
I've got 2 CFPro Esmart kits as spares!! I've got the all metal thats for sale and I would not be selling that if it were not to recoup some bucks for other helis, like the G5.
Nuttsey just found such a good deal he has moved on in the 450 class!!

PostSubject: Bigger is better, as in more stable   My Helis I_icon_minitimeThu May 21, 2009 4:22 pm

Hey coptercrazy,

I have to agree with Fatdaddy, I'm just not in the 600 league yet. Nuttcaze and other forums all seem to agree that larger heli's are more stable.

I just love my Exceed Blue Ray 450se, and with the exception of the CNC upgrades for the head, tail, and a few other bits, it is a clone of the T-Rex 450seV2 (so of course I had to like let one of those leap into my lap, lol). The EXI Squadron is essentially a bare bones Blue Ray with no CNC on it. So all that to say that I am now in let's break some parts mode in learning on the 450. I figure as parts break I can upgrade them slowly, and lay in a good supply of common parts where I can. Then I'll try to tackle the 300 CP and the 4#3B. I'm finding out fast that keeping spare parts on hand for a range of heli's is too expensive for me now.

Looks like your feet is good sized so let us know how you do, I did my first hover last Sunday with my Blue Ray (was first ever hover on a non-coaxial heli). I have a CP but it blew out it's esc, and sitting on bench so it got calm enough here (Colorado) last Sunday to take the BR out, and wow!.

Lots of E-Sky, Exceed, EXI, and honey bee fans here in the forum.

Enjoy,

Ken

PostSubject: Larger is better, but cost way more!!   My Helis I_icon_minitimeThu May 21, 2009 7:41 pm

One thing I cannot stress enough is to go for RADDS flight plan!!! Anyone who is ready to hover a CP hali, I feel it is a must to check it out... When I found RADDS I was starting tpo hover some (out of control) already. And it was some what of a step beck, But it was SOOO worth it I cannot say it strongly enough!!! When I was done I was so sure of myself and my heli ,now keeping in mind I did this with the crackhead Honey bee king2 I was ready to rock and I did!!!
If I haden't done RADDS I really don't think I'd be where I am.

welcome sign coptercrazy

I still love my E_Sky's. That won't Ever Change. My 3 Favorite all time helis are

300 Size Beginner Heli - E_Sky HBFP

450 Size Advanced Heli - EXI 450 Squadron/SE/V2

Big Mutha Fu#$ing Heli - E_Sky E-Smart.

But my all time favorite is the E-Smart. I will need everyones help soon too. E_Sky is doing something incredibly stupid by not producing the E-Smart right now. So I need anyone who loves E_Sky helis, or anyone who my advice has helped,

To mass E-Mail E_Sky telling them We Want The E-Smart!! orange71 orange71

Believe me when I say the

E-Smart is The Best Heli E_Sky makes and I feel it is best in its size class.

This is my new campaign. To get E_Sky to re-release the E-Smart. I'll let you guys know when to e-mail them. orange68

Hey guys, great to hear from you Gentlemen again. :smoke:
Fatdaddy I'm going to have to side with Ken on this one, just not no where's near ready for a E-Smart (YET). It's like a mountain off in a distance I know I'll climb it some day. I've had that goal since the first time I saw one flying with a camera mounted on Nuttcaze's sight a year ago, way cool!! orange74
For now i'm content with flying my HBFP, that I have been training with. Just starting to really enjoy and be comfortable in any position , tail in , nose in , side to it's great. orange45
The time has come to concentrate on improving with my Belt CP. Just got it back together from the last laps of concentration, let me explain, last week I thought I'd try nose in for the first time with the belt. Went out in the yard fired it up and turned nose in, little bit rough but I had it under control trying to relax I was quite proud. Then it happened as I turned it back around orange4 I over rotated had a brain fart at the same time and down it went. That only cost me a feathering shaft, main gear and a pitch servo the blades were grass stained but fine. It's all back together now and flys great orange6
Man I got a pile of up-grades for my Belt CP ,Iwent on XMhobbies and bought the CNC 7075 head , and the CNC 7075 pro tail assemble CF blades main and tail also a fiberglass canopy that's painted to look like CF. Think I'll hold off until Ican actually fly with this bird at least as good as I can with the HBFP orange78
Nuttcaze I will send E-Sky an e-mail, they can't take away my dream that easy, I hope. You are an inspiration to us all ! I want to see the E-Smart around for a long time to come, or a least until I get mine. Ha Ha
Stay in contact Phil orange6
