Need help with switching canopy and stuff

Hi guys, now i think it's time for me to switch the canopy on my Parkfun Blitz3D heli.
And i have some questions.
Do i need the tailboom in the canopy ?
Can i use the old motormount ?
Do i have to do much fitting and stuff ?
Or is it just to take away the tailboom ?
I was also wondering if i should buy the night skids, they glow in the dark ?
