I found out there is a chat box option on the forum so I enabled it, its at the very bottom of the page

Cool man,
Nice addition. I just popped in there for a minute. At least we have some kind of chat now, although having one that came up in its own window would be nice, but this is a start.

How do you get to the chat? I'm looking at the bottom of the screen and don't see a link. It doesn't open a chat window?

Go to the bottom of the main page... on the right it will say your not logged in, just click on it and it will log you in...
