I'm 63 and will never fly 3d. The only reason i wanted a belt was for a larger heli to handle wind and the hh. Can the idle up portion be disconnected on the switch? Does it have to be connected to complete the circuit for the motor to run? If it can how do i do it? Fat daddy thanks for info on the blade pitch set up.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that someone did bypass theirs, but I just don't remember where it was. Until you can find out how, you could do what I did when I was using the stock TX. I just spring loaded mine with a thick rubberband, so that if i hit it by accident, it would spring back to normal mode, hopefully before any damage could be done. If you ever get a digital radio, like a DX6i, you can disable it by setting the throttle and pitch curves the same as normal mode.

i'm going to nashville tomorrow to get my dx6i. They are going to set it up for me at hobby lobby. I'll have them disable it for me.
Thanks again,

Have them set up throttle and pitch curves for normal and stunt mode the same.

Then have them set hold mode throttle curve at -.5 -.5 -.5 -.5 -.5 and pitch curve at 0 25 50 75 100. That way if you accidently hit stunt switch, nothing will happen, but if you ever want to change it, you can.
And you can use hold mode for set up.

BUT, be sure to have them show you how to do this stuff. You need to know how.

@Shadow...
If you HADN'T been getting the DX6i, I would have recommended putting a wrap of electrical tape, or like DD said, a rubber band, or something to hold the switch in Normal. I was going to disable it all together, but then remembered, "Oh, wait, all the setup stuff should be done in Idle Up, throttle at mid-stick.". So I decided to go with a less 'semi-perminent' solution.
