Marc well now I have watched your vid and it looks very nice.
Can you let us know what all the electrics were that you used
on this bird.
Motor =
Esc =
batt =
servos =
What blades would you use to replace the ones with the kit.
Do you think it will come later as an RTF or with motor in the kit.
You now marc some people get to have all the fun.
I have one in my shopping cart at RC711 waiting on me making up my mind.

anyway nice work.

I'm using a Spektrum AR6200 Rx, it has a main Rx and a satelite antenna, the Rx is on top and the extra antenna is on the side

A couple funny things about the ES500

-The Kit is said to use 2 different size servos but really only Standard size servos will work.

-Since everyone will have to use Standard size servos, the included hardware for mounting the servos won't work.

-The kit comes with a motor pinion but it is meant for a 4mm shaft instead of a 5mm like most 500 size helis.

-The ES500 alos uses a short motor.

-The ENTIRE head is plastic and there are going to be alot of stripped screw holes.

-Have fun getting the flybar weights off.

-The Blades are the worst tracking blades ever.

Nutt, question:

In a short thought, describing all the problems it has, and how you have been fixed those to make it fly nice and secure... Do you think the ES500 (a.k.a. 900) well worth the invest?.

I would like to know, cuz I have a lil chance to get this for free :giggle:

(as I said, a lil, very lil chance).

If not, I might negotiate other stuff, like a Honey Bee FP or alum cases, or something else. Just to know if I should get it to save it for next year and once with better budget and more experience I could build it.

Thx, greetings form the land of the Tequila ESky ES500 (aka the "900") Thread - Page 2 Tequilafloor

Hey Bert, How bout you let us get a couple built before we pass judgement on it.. There is a chance that any ONE kit could have some problems that the rest won't. It seems sad that everyone, almost had deemed this a dud and there are not more that a half doz. in the air in all of north America!! The issues you mentioned are no different than many other kits, and the problems get solved very quickly..
Just my thoughts on the heli..
I will have mine(2) next week!!

Hey FD!

Yes, I think you are right about it, I was justing asking it cuz I might have the chance to get one for free, doing a negotiation today or tomorrow. But you are right, and I am not in a hurry to get one (very happy with the stuff I'm flying). I could negotiate for other heli to resell or spare and some cases for the trips.. just fashion :crylaugh:

In any case, my RC budget expired this year (just for spare parts), and If I decide to go into a big bird next year, I might ask for your help and go for a ES600.

You can not deny that canopy looks sweet!

Thanks, FD... May the force removes the autumm windies!

the only real problem the kit has is the servo mounting hardware, well that and the blades suck, other then that there isn't much wrong with the kit. Just know that it has to use standard size servos and the included pinion is for a Brushless motor that has a 4mm shaft, most motors for 500 size helis have motors that use a 5mm shaft.

My conclusion for the ES500 is that for people who want an ES600, they should E-Mail ESky bugging them about the ES600 and in the meantime they should buy an ES500, as long as you bought a 80A ESC, everything you would put on the ES500 would swap right over to the ES600, except for the motor. Its a great stepping stone until the ES600 is released again, After that that though, there isn't much of a reason to buy an ES500 (not that theres much of a reason to buy one in the beginning anyways, lol)

But I do want to re-state that despite me constantly saying how much better the ES600 is over the ES500, do not take that to mean that the ES500 is a bad heli, its a well built heli and has a nice feel to it when you pick it up, BUT the ES500 doesn't get close to the ES600, night and day difference, especially when it comes to flying in wind, the ES500 definitely has a limit to how much wind it will take but the ES600 will handle insane amounts of wind.

Very well put dude!!!! And I'm sure you are 100% right about the 900 vs the "E" The "E" is just a BAD censored!!!!
But what I'm really anxious to do is compare it against other 500 class heli's!!!! And that is exactly what I'm gonna do..I'm already set to do that very equally.. As of now I've got both ends of the specktrum covered.. At one end is my HDX 500 it is about the smoothest, most mellow, calm, graceful even!!!! It does have plenty of power but not what I would call HI power!! Running 4S packs is what defines this heli.. If I plugged in a 6 I'm sure things would be very different, andf I'm alsdo sure I would not like it as much!!!! At the other end is the EXI 500!!!! This thing is a MONSTER!!! Running 6S to a Scorpion spinning the rotor up to 2750 it rips the sky... Set how it is, way beond my ability it will do anything asked of and do it at light speed!!!! It is locked solid in everyway, from the 2100T controling the Toqure tube tail, to the digital Hitec's on the swash!! So I've got it covered at both ends and we will see where the 900 falls!!!! I can't wait!!!!

it's probably gonna be more of a matter of personal preference as to where it'll fall. After having spent many hours working on Brad's HDX 500, I wouldn't compare the ES500 to it, the HDX is just a giant PIA. the ES500 is MUCH easier to work on/with. So for me I hold my ES500 WAYYYYY over the HDX 500, but thats just my opinion.

Thanks guys, those were the comments I was needing :bigthumb:

I'll see if I get other stuff in the negotiation I'm doing. as I commented I am now in the top of my budget for geting helis (I took the choice to invest in the HBFPv2 and I dont regret it, the lil cricket is awesome :prop: ).

I have the rest of the year to master them, so i can fly it well both units (HB and Belt). Then in the next year budget is trying a EXI 450 to build it by myself and then go to a unique big daddy. I hope Esky relaunchs the Esmart, cuz we can not deny Esky have been changing the designs and each model looks way better than their old counterparts.

I think they are doing great jobs in design, trying to compete with Walkera.

Thanks again, guys.

Well I wasen't really talkin about workin on them, I know that's a part of the overall pix. But I was refering to flight only..However I didn't find the HDX hard to work on at all!! Only the tail rotor set up sucks. And because I used the motor I did it required a much smaller pinion than what it is designed to use so I had to drill some new holes to mount the motor but other than that it was pretty stright forward... I thought..

Thats a good part to ask... about wind (cuz I live close to the mountains and we have lots of wind now with the climatic changes).

You said the ES600 can handle lots of wind, while the 500 can not... but watching and the pictures, they almost look at the same size. Can you enlight me about what it makes the difference?, the size?, the mass?, the blades?.

Imagine, guys, that i didnt have other option than learn to fly with strong wind... in the Honey bee... 1 of each 15 days here we dont have wind... so you can imagine the lil tanky doing hovering with lots of wind... scary..

Thank u Nutt, in advance.

The ES600 is quite a bit bigger when you see them up close, but its basically just that the ES600 is just bigger, in everything. And the bigger the heli is the more wind it'll handle. I had my ES600 and Blazemobs HDX 500 outside today for some hovering when he was down here today, his HDX 500 was getting blown all over the place by the wind but when I brought my ES600 out you would have never even knew the wind was blowing by how stable it was.

these are lined up by their tails

Well Marc,
Did you allready have a spare or was it one you did not purchase.
Maybe you might be able to get MICROHELI to make some delrin gears for us.
You know it must be going round as I stripped the main gear on my belt cp v2 I had a replacement but
it was not a delrin and also did not have the one way bearing so I had to remove it from the old gear
and fit to the new Oh what a pain. up and ready now.
Also on my belt cp I think one of the links broke sending the blades into the boom (bent),horizonal fin (broken)
flybar case (broken) plus a couple of links (broken) and also two carbon main blades (destroyed).
Up and ready now. Anyway marc you can see I also had a nice day. I dont think my plan included all this.
It was a real pain as we had a fairly good day for flying but just abit to much wind for the honey bee v2.

So marc we have both had a fairly good day.

By for now,
fitzy. orange60

nope, I'm not lucky enough to have a spare gear for the ES500 yet, have to wait 2 more weeks before I will have the money only because I spent soo much on my ES600's :prop:

I've wondered if Microheli would be interested in making a gear for it but I'm not confident enough of there being enough of a demand for the gears to be profitable for Microheli to make them, but I will be asking none the less.
