| Thank sdjb. Hard trying to find time to fly these days. - 247rememberme wrote:

that was awesome flying, how long did it take you to get to this stage? Well, I sure wouldn't say I'm a great pilot by any means, LOL. At least compared to others. I have a saying: "Any asshole can fly a plane, but it takes a real man to fly a helicopter." I've pretty much always loved anything RC since my teens. Driven nitro/electric RC cars (1/8 BMT, RS4, RC12L2, RC10B4, Monster Pirate, MBX, etc), few different nitro boats, heli's & planes. I started with a few random park flyers throughout my years, but went to heli's because I wanted something more challenging. Flying circuits in a heli is by far the most challenging thing ever, IMO. But if you're fluent in it, then flying a basic plane shouldn't be a problem for you at all. Similar concepts and perspectives are already developed, so it doesn't take much time to learn. As I said before, this is my first EDF and I feel pretty comfortable with it. I'll agree with you that these EDF's are crazy impressive. A plane hauling balls by you at 70MPH creates a rush, but heli's are more capable - hover, circuits, inverted, indoor, outdoor, etc. You can pilot them to do different things and not get so bored. EDF's aren't as convenient as heli's, either. No more backyard, or indoor for that matter, flights. Having one of each, though... that's pretty fun.

| 70 mph,i wouldn`t know whether to or !!! how much do these things cost and are they pretty `crash-resistant` | |

that was awesome flying, how long did it take you to get to this stage? I thought planes were really easy compared to Helis but that was because I knew how to fly helis good before ever trying to fly a plane, not as much pucker factor with a plane compared to a heli, the planes are fun but I just feel helis are better, I don't like to always have to be moving forwards. But if you got yourself a high wing trainer you'd have absolutely no problems learning to fly a plane.

| yeah,i`m a heli guy at heart too but think how impressed the kids would be to see me flying a 70mph jet fighter 70 mph;unreal | |

| thinking about it i bet a decent heli would be able to reach these crazy speeds too it`d take a man with a fair size set of `balls` to do that though | |

| yeah, second thought a 4ft spinning disc of death going past at 70mph would probably make me poop myself | |

| I think the fastest helis are around 80ish, planes 350mph. In order to go faster in a heli you need more rotor speed, which creates more drag (hence why prop aircraft never could break speed of sound). - Nuttcaze wrote:

As for EDF jets being 'easy', if you have a digital Tx that's programmable, then flying an EDF Jet is a lot easier. You can correct a lot of the abnormal control surface tendancies each jet tends to have by tweaking servo movement rates/throws. Hardest part that you can't simply fix is learning reaction time. Sometimes you don't even have time to react to the input of the controls, you have to think about it before doing it, and think about what comes after while doing it.
