If you pull the main shaft up till pin under the main gear is locked in place and the main gear is up as far as it will go then there is a collet on the main shaft on the top side of the frame that you need to push down and lock in place with a screw. with that done there should be no slop in the main shaft, up or down. Someone has a vid on changing a head. Can't remember who did it but will look. Maybe it was Nuttcaze.

Hopefully someone else here with a little more experiance can post to either confirm what I have told you or to tell you the right way lol

Hope it helps

ok i tightened the screw pretty good but i can still grab the gear and pull it up and down very easy.......seems like im missing something here.....the reason i took it all apart was that i was going to replace it with the cnc center hub and shaft but they ran out by the time i got the money and by then it was already taken apart. i wonder if im missing a pin of some sort or its just broken????????im about ready to give up on the heli.....fix one problem then you find another, thats how its been for the past couple of weeks now and i only flew it once!!!!!!!i live where there are no hobby stores and everything that i buy is either coming from cali or fricken hong kong and im sick of waiting for parts!!!!!

Don't give up bud. Only hobby store I have in town get me to answer their questions lol. I know about as much about this stuff as I do brain surgery (know where the brain is supose to be). Only way we learn about this is to break it and fix it. I nearly ended before I started to bud. got my first heli, charged the battery, turned on TX, plugged in battery and watched the 4in1 burst into flames lol.
have a look at these and see if you can work out what you need to do. Great vids from a great guy.

I don't know how much play you have. I can pull my head up maybe 1/16". If you pull up on the head, that will pull your pin at the bottom of the shaft up into it's little grove. Then while holding the head up tight, loosen the grub screw in the top collet in the picture Darrel posted and push the collet down as far as you can and tighten the grub screw back. In other words, pinch the frame between the bottom pin and the top collet That should get rid of almost all of the play.

What ever you do don't give up. If nothing else works, just dissassemble the whole head and reassemble it. You'll solve this problem.
