HBFP help......Battery or Motor or ? Empty
PostSubject: HBFP help......Battery or Motor or ?   HBFP help......Battery or Motor or ? I_icon_minitimeSun Aug 02, 2009 11:15 pm

Heli: HBFP
Battery: Lipo 7.4v
Charger: thunder ac6
Everything else: stock
Motor hours: about 2 hours
life of battery: I charged it about 20 times

I have training gear on my HBFP and trying to hover and do the "hop". I just got the HBFP a few days ago and was able to get it in the air about 6 feet before it crashed ( with training gear on).

The problem is:

Now, the HBFP can't get airborne with the training gear on. I can get it airborne without the gear but not with it. With a fresh charged battery I tried to full trottle it and it still doesn't get off the ground, just skids around. I removed the orange balls on the gear and still no lift off.

My process of elimination:
1. checked main baldes to see if balanced...ok
2. check pitch on main blades and paddles...ok
3. checked center of gravity on heli...ok
4. checked to see if anything was broken...flybar, outer control paddle, servo arms, etc...ok
5. recharged battery with thunder ac6 (4.2v each cell.....8.4v total)....ok

I assume it's the motor but like I said it can fly without the gear, but I'm not good enough to take the gear off. I only have one battery so I can't swap it out.

Can you post a video of it? Are all the links still there?

Don't know how to post a video yet. Will look at tutorial by Nuttz.

I think I found the problem. BLADE TRACKING!
While waiting for a response I looked through the HBFP beginner forum (wow...it's long) and saw a topic about tracking. When I checked the tracking earlier I guess I wasn't throttling it up fast enough.

When I did throttle it up, I found it was way off. I had to bend one of the blades a lot to get it to track right. Those stock blades suck big time. On a trial flight/attempt hover, I could get it up with the training gear on. I also had to readjust the tracking again.

Will heat help the adjustment stay put?

I will try it again once my battery charges and hopefully solved this problem. If not, I will make a video and post it.

Thanks for the reply
