hmmm.. Which has the better receiver? Also which is easier to maintain such as upgrade installment and part replacement? Can the EXI canopy be replaced with an Align 450 canopy like the cp?

Exi 450 is a direct clone of the trex 450. As far as upgrades, it's a lot easier to find the parts when you want to upgrade. But for the kit, you can actually get a cnc head ready for the kit for 49 bucks at xheli. As far as precise and stability, i would gor for exi. if you have never built a 6 channel helicopter, then i say go for the rtf beltcp.

I Have completely unassembled my walkera 36 and put on CNC head and tail upgrades so I mean I have some exp. with the layout and assembly. The 450 EXI also comes in RTF though and that looks promising!

Xheli.com man they have the legend and genesis

exi is totally different thatn the blueray or the legend. they have different placement of the servos. the closest you can get is the blueray. the elevator servo is mounted on the front while the exi is at the back. if you buy the blueray, thats about 299 bucks, i would rather get a kit for 49 buckswhich comes with a cnc head and a fiberflass blades, not to mention the metal frame. and for the servo you can use tower pro for 4.95 each and your motor 3500 kv for 17 bucks esc 40 amp at hobbypartz 22 bucks, battery and a gyro. other thank that you're good to go. i would recommend getting a dx6i or dx7, it makes your setting up a lot easier.

Blackrain do you have a site you would suggest I go to to get the kit and electronics?

That type of setup is something that I would prefer doing after I've become more comfortable and know more about the hobby and know that I will stick with it. As for now I'm looking into RTF heli's, like the Belt cp or if their truely better heli's, the RTF EXI line(Blue-ray etc.)

ok . i think you're better off with the blueray. parts are 99 percent compatible with trex 450. Belt cp is good too, but the parts, you have to order it at the internet, while blueray is a lot more precise and has a very good stability (less slop) if you get the metal head version. And if you have a local hobby shop at your place, then it's a lot easier to get the parts, rather than waiting 5 days to get your parts through the mail. also, just understand the basic of how the heli works, then you will not have any problem building one. there's a lot of information here at the forum, also check nuttcaze's vid on how to build an exi. good luck bro. by the way, you can get the exi kit here

MikeysRC on YouTube has a great series of videos for how to buy and build an EXI450.

Do you know what a build like he did costs?

With the $44 Exceed RC 2.4 TX/RX, it was around $230. With the DX6i it's going to be more like $390.
He has it all listed in the details for that video I think.
Yeah, here it is:
"An introduction to a video series where you can learn how and where to buy all the parts to make a nice flying Trex 450 clone helicopter for only about $226. That includes EVERYTHING needed to fly.
The video series will show you everything from where I got the parts, how to put it all together, how to set up the electronics and how to program the transmitter throttle / pitch curves, sub trims etc. "

thats alot cheaper than I thought.. nuttcaze had an idea that if I got the Belt cp that when I crach it just switch all the electronics over to that same exact kit

That's actually what I did.
I bought the 2.4ghz BeltCP, then when I crashed it (flight 3 ) I moved the power system over to the EXI 450. I had to buy a pinion gear, and different motor mount screws, but other than that everything worked out.
I don't know if you saw my recent videos in the Videos topic, but that is my current setup: EXI450 with Belt CP Power System.

Im going with the Belt! I did look at that copterX however that thing looks awesome, all aluminum and cnc! I wonder if when I crash my cp if the Parts will transfer over to the copter X just like they do to the EXI 450..

Also looking at converting the belt cpv2 into an exi. Can you give specifics on the pinion gear and the mounting screws needed and where to purchase.
Thanks Jeff

How does the hbfp fly with CNC upgrades for the main rotor head? cnc swash, flybar control, and blade grips? There very expensive(20$ a part) so I was just seeing if anyone has any experience with using them on theirs.

yeah I had another topic up under 4ch helicopters but no one was responding. thats what I figured but I just wanted to make sure. My old hbfp finally kicked the bucket :( so I was trying to decide wether to just buy new CNC upgrades or just get the new one, or BOTH! haha Nuttcase flies that new one so well it just made me have to have one. It looks so good and stable in the air! I was trying to find one without the transmitter so I could save about 30$ and just use the old one
