This is the first time I'm setting up a BL motor. I notice when I apply throttle the whole canister turns with the spindle... Is that the right behaviour? I thought only the spindle spins?

nope only brushed motors do that unless u get an inrunner brushless

So this is normal then for a BL outrunner motor? the outside and spindle turns while the wounded insides stay still. I have a 3800kv outrunner motor.

It scared the crap out of me when I first fired up the motor. :)
