| so larger voltage batterys don't equal longer flight times? the higher the mAh that gives you longer flights right? | |

| Yeah, you are right. I think you shouldn't buy bigger battery than 2500mah for use in belt cp. I am using 2650mah battery, but it is kinda too big for batt tray (but still fits somehow) | |

With the Squadron model and the $39.95 model all of the 450se v2 parts should fit just fine including canopys. Those are the only EXI's I have experience with. | |

| Heads up Squadron Owners! I have had the short transfer shaft/gears that drives the belt at the main gears fail on both of my Squadrons. Today at about 50' doing pieros and all of a sudden uncontrolled piero spinning. It gets your attention. The small drive pully for the belt at the top of the shaft disconnects from the shaft and you lose tail rotation. I have replaced the shaft/gears, on the first failed Squadron, with an assembly from my $39.95 EXI, which seems more substantial. Today I'm disassembling the freshly crashed Squadron to replace the shaft/gear assy, main blades, blade holders, boom, main gear, and lord knows what else! Unfortunately the shaft/gear assy is buried deep inside the heli which requires a lot of disassembly. | |

| hey when u got to change the tail drive gear (small one for the belt)and shaft on exi 450's can u just replace the shaft and gear or do u have to buy the part that has the gear shaft and mounting blocks? | |

| I believe you should be able to get away with the shaft assembly with just the shaft and the two drive sprockets. I'm thinking those should be compatable across the Trex clone line. Just make sure you get one that has a metal sprocket to drive the tail belt. You could try this one from the $39.95 version of the 450. http://www.xheli.com/exi-31213.html This is what I'm running on both of my Squadrons and haven't had a problem. I know it works but, I know you were asking if you can just replace the shaft and gears. This is pretty cheap though and should just slide right in. FWIW - burton8012 wrote:

| hey thats the part but you see those two black blocks do u have to replace them too cause i took it out of my heli and the bottom block comes off but the shaft wont come out of the block.. i know on some helis those blocls split in half so u can open it up and take out the shaft but on this one you can't its seems to me like to replace the shaft u need the whole set up in that link u just showed me | |

| I know what you refering to. I guess in order to reuse the mounting blocks you would have to remove the sprocket from the existing shaft so you could remove it from the mounting block. Then you would have to have a replacement shaft/sprocket that you could install the sprocket after inserting it into the bearing block. Seems to me that you would probably be in for less hassle just replacing the whole assembly with the blocks. That way you don't have to worry about removing and installing the sprocket and if it will stay in place once you install it. It's up to you but I'd do the whole assembly. Did you have a failure or are you looking to prevent one? Curt - burton8012 wrote:

| Subject: EXI 450 Plastic Kit, servos? Topstar, Chinese Heli motors? Thu Oct 29, 2009 12:04 am | |
| Want to get $39.95 EXI 450. Nuttcaze in his Sqadron videos used EXI digital113F servos. Can I use that for tail servo, or other EXI servo? Upgrade tail to metal? Budget built no 3D flying. Bought Detrum GY48V at the hobby show in Chicago from Chinese rep. Also does anyone know of Chinese,Topbrand motor company: Topstar heli motors? GY48V for $15, 450-02A-3450KV Topstar, from rep $20. Alpha 400 no stock, at XHeli. Exceed D2830-3500KV-438 seems better? I just read from Nuttcaze that he is not happy with the EXI helis , because of tail problems and booms, any input, is the HK450 any different than EXI, he mentioned CopterX, , looks like EXI what's different? Use Volcano ESC30,and what size battery? Using Exceed 2.4gh TX. First 6ch, want to keep price down, any ideas or advice would be appreciated. Does anyone know if HXeli runs a sale on Friday after Thanxgiving, thinking of waiting to put order in for some xtra savings. | |

| You're from Elmhurst??? Im from skokie just north suburb of chicago. I can definitely help you and show you how to build your exi. I have about 7 exi's they're really good helicopter. Nuttcaze is right about upgrading your tail since palstic tends to twist. this goes with trex 450 plastic tail. But you know what? PM me and i'll give you my number and i can help you and show you evrything you need .. Your heli will fly very nice. Ill take you to the field where we can fly my Trex 700 nitro and trex 600 nitro. Also ill let you fly one of my exi's... i bet you went to Rosemont huh! ihobby? | |
