As I stare at my ES600, waiting for my battery/charger issue to be resolved so I can finish building it, I search for things I can do. I decided this morning, before I send my battery back to XHeli for replacement, that I would put it in the battery compartment so I could check the center of gravity of the heli.
With the batt as far forward as I could get it, the heli was very tail heavy.
So I decided to try it on the little shelf above the battery compartment, where I have the ESC now. So I set it up there and temporarily secured it as best I could with a rubber band and the COG was just about perfect.
The shelf is a bit short, but I think with some velcro and some kind of strap it will work fine. Also it will be away from the bottom of the main shaft. Canopy still fits ok as well. I'll just move the ESC to a different spot. If this method is OK it will keep me from having to add any extra weight to the nose.
Have any of you guys used this method? Anyone know of any problems that I might be overlooking?
Thanks for your input,
